In 2010, Skratch Lounge was formed by The Groove Techs (DJ Bamboo & DJ Spinja) in an attempt to bring awareness and a home for Pacific Northwest turntablists.   Every first Thursday, groups formed to experience open scratch cyphers, followed by a battle showcase performed by the best local and out-of-town tablists.  As West Coast recognition grew, Skratch Lounge was honored to collaborate with and be considered in the same league as Skratchpad, Skratcher, Battle Ave, and Skratchlab.  In 2011, Skratch Lounge gained a large swing of momentum by reigniting the DMCs to return to the region, and it was welcomed by many, both scratch and non-scratch DJ’s.   This year marks Skratch Lounge’s 3-Year Anniversary, and they are celebrating by hosting the return of the DMC American Battleground:

“You don't have to be a scratch DJ to come through - if you are just into listening to this truly underrepresented art form, come through and kick back with a beer to just vibe out to good beats and cuts.  Is a scratch DJ a good club DJ?  Is a club DJ a good scratch DJ?  Not always, but one thing is certain: scratching is the most raw form of street cred and bragging rights. Catch some wreck son...”

FORMAT
This is DMC’s classic solo showcase style DJ battle: DJs will each perform a 2 minute routine for the elimination round. Judges will select the top 6 to advance to the final round. The top 6 will each perform a 6 minute routine. The champion of this DMC regional will advance to the 2013 DMC US Finals in New York City. Date and venue to be announced.

EQUIPMENT
Rane mixers will be supplied by DMC. DJs cannot bring their own mixers. DJs must bring their own headphones, slipmats, needles, records, computers, cords, control vinyl and/or laptop stands etc. DJs can use any brand of needles and DVS they like. Promoter/sound will supply Technics turntables.

PRIZES:
1st prize from your promoter: Round Trip Flight & Hotel Accommodations to battle in the 2013 DMC US Finals in NYC
