Solo Showcase

The DMC Open is modern mixing DJ competition. Can you win the crowd? Is your music library deep enough? The DMC Open World Champion must showcase a solid mixture of genres, eras, and tempos.

How it Works

National Eliminations

3 minute qualifying routine needed

Online Submission

Upload a recorded performance to your branch's website or page on dmcdjchamps.com

Live Performance

Compete at a national event (check with your local DMC branch for details)

Wildcard 
Competitors will upload a recorded performance via dmcdjchamps.com/wildcard


A panel of judges will select the top 3-6 finalists, who will compete in the final round.

12 minute solo showcase

The winner is crowned DMC Open National Champion of their country

Wildcard 
The DMC Open Wildcard Champion will represent their country

World Finals
The DMC World DJ Championships

Eliminations / Seeding
 

DJs perform a 5-minute solo showcase. Judges select the Top 10 to advance.

Finals
 

DJs perform a 12-minute solo showcase for the DMC Open World Champion title.

Online Submission Guidelines
Important requirements for video submissions

Edited videos are prohibited – performances must be non-stop

No graphics, logos, or signage allowed

Videos must be submitted by 11:59 PM PST on the due date

Videos exceeding the time limit by more than 5 seconds will be disqualified

BANNED CONTENT

Videos exceeding the time limit by more than 5 seconds will be disqualified. Nudity, pornography, or explicit visuals will result in a one-year competition ban.

Poor audio quality will impact judging results

Video format: 16:9 ratio, Full HD (1920×1080 px), direct audio recommended

DMC reserves the right to remove inappropriate entries

World Finals Rule

National Champions can defend their title the following year.
 

World Champions cannot defend their title. Once a DJ wins the DMC Open World Championship, they can only return as a judge or showcase performer, ensuring a fresh competition each year.

Eliminations

 

If more than 6 DJs qualify, a 5-minute routine will determine seeding

DJs must have competed in at least one elimination or final round before the World Finals

Branch Managers cannot compete as finalists

Equipment Rules

Allowed

  • Any DJ setup  
    (turntables, controllers / tablets, mixers, CDJs, and up to 2 MIDI players)

    Note: Rules may vary by national branch. Please check with your local branch for confirmation.

     

  • Both vinyl & DVS systems 
     

  • Phase system
     

  • Any mixer
    (DJs are encouraged to bring their own)

Not Allowed

  • Microphones 
     

  • Drum machines
     

  • Traditional Instruments

Technical Difficulties While Performing

  • DJs can restart from the beginning if equipment failure occurs

  • If the issue is due to DJ's faulty setup, they may restart from the breakdown point
