Monkey Shoulder Brings the Ultimate Bartender Championship to Tokyo in 2025

Monkey Shoulder is proud to announce the return of its Ultimate Bartender Championship (UBC) to Asia, with a regional final set to take place in Tokyo in 2025. Launched over a decade ago, the UBC has seen more than 8,000 bartenders compete globally in a showcase of the true “skills that pay the bills.”

Held during the prestigious DMC World DJ Finals, this year’s competition will feature nine standout bartenders representing the top talent from Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, and India.

Unlike any other competition, the UBC rigorously tests contestants across the core disciplines of bartending: Knowledge, Nosing, Pouring, Perfectly Served Cocktails, Table Service, and Round Building—ensuring the title is earned through all-around excellence behind the bar.

As part of the weekend experience from the 10^th -12^th October 2025, finalists will craft bespoke cocktails for DMC’s renowned DJ World Championships in Tokyo for the finalists and their guests at the exclusive, invite-only VIP DMC Welcome Reception on Friday night. Winners of UBC will also get the opportunity to attend the electrifying DMC World Finals, and finally, battle it out for the coveted UBC title.

The Ultimate Bartender Championship isn’t just a competition—it’s a career launchpad. Previous winners have gone on to open award-winning bars, become global brand ambassadors, and inspire the next generation of bartenders.
