  • DMC Classic
    2024 General Rules for The DMC Classic The DMC Classic Solo Showcase DJ Battle, established in 1985, features two distinct formats: live events and online submissions. Key Online Dates: - Monday, June 3rd - Monday, July 22nd: Preliminary Round Submission Period (2 minute) - Monday, July 29th: Semi-Finalists announced - Monday, August 12th: Final Round Submissions due (6 minutes) - Sunday, September 1st: (Rest of the World) Finals Premiere on Youtube Online Format (Rest of the World): - DJs submit a 2-minute routine online for the preliminary round. * Audio must be line-in /a high-quality audio recording. * No graphic overlays or edited videos are allowed. * DJs must perform in view and routines should be one-take. - The top finalists selected by judges proceed to the final round. - In the final round, each finalist performs a 6-minute routine. - The champion advances to the World Finals. Live Event Format: - DJs perform a 2-minute routine for the elimination round. - The top finalists selected by judges proceed to the final round. - In the final round, each finalist performs a 6-minute routine. - The champion advances to the next level (National or World Finals). World Finals: - Each finalist performs a 6-minute routine. - The judges will choose the champion, 2nd, and 3rd runner-up. General rules for all online DMC World DJ Battles: This battle is exclusively for solo entries. - Free entry for all DJs worldwide. - All ages can enter this battle. - Judges include DMC World Champions and esteemed DJs. - Each DJ can enter only once per competition. - Competitors must be nationals of their country of entry or prove residency of at least 6 years. - DMC reserves the right to modify contest rules for credibility and fairness. - The previous year's champion is invited to defend their title. - Notify organizers immediately if unable to submit the Finals video. - If uploading entry to YouTube, do not use the "safe for kids" setting. - Include at least one social media handle when registering for a competition. Content Guidelines: - Video editing is prohibited; DJs must submit a non-stop performance. - No graphics or signage allowed in video submissions. - Videos must be uploaded before 11:59 pm EST on their due date. - Videos exceeding the time limit by more than 4 seconds will be automatically rejected. - Ensure direct audio recording from the sound source, not through a phone or computer microphone. - Entries must not contain nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit visual content. - DMC reserves the right to remove inappropriate entries. - Competitors must adhere to YouTube's regional terms, conditions, and community guidelines. General rules for all live DMC World DJ Battles: - All ages can enter this battle - Free entry for all DJs - Judges include Regional Champions and esteemed DJs. - Each DJ can enter only once per competition. - Competitors must be nationals of their country of entry or prove residency of at least 6 years. - DMC reserves the right to modify contest rules for credibility and fairness. - The previous year's champion is invited to defend their title. Equipment: - DJs can use up to two turntables and one DJ mixer. - Vinyl, DVS, or both are permitted. - DJs must supply headphones, slipmats, needles, records, laptops, power cords, USB cords, control vinyl, and laptop stands. - Controllers, CDJs, multimedia players, and production gear are prohibited. - Rane Twelve turntables/controllers and Phase wireless technology are permitted. - Video component is not allowed. Technical Difficulty: - DJs experiencing equipment failure can restart their performance from the beginning. - If equipment fails due to faulty setup, DJs can restart from the breakdown point. Nationality: - Competitors must be citizens or residents of the nation they are competing in for at least 6 years. Judging: - - Judges evaluate performances based on criteria including Originality, Technicality (Scratching, Beat Juggling, Disses, Wordplay, etc), Showmanship, Composition, Creativity, Execution, Selection & Musicality. - Branch managers and employees cannot judge or compete in this battle.
  • DMC Supremacy
    2024 General Rules for The DMC Supremacy (Live & Online) The DMC Battle for Supremacy is our classic head-to-head DJ Battle. DJs will each perform a 60 second routine for the elimination round. Qualified judges will select the top 8 to advance to the final round, where they'll be paired up to battle head-to-head until one DJ emerges victorious. Key Dates (Online): - Monday, June 3rd - Monday, July 22nd: Qualifier submission period (60 seconds) - Monday, July 29th: Top 8 announced - Monday, August 12th: Eliminations Round submissions due (2) 60-second routines - Friday, August 19th: Preliminary Round submissions due (2) 90-second routines - September / October TBD: DMC Supremacy Online Finals Premiere on youtube.com/DMCworldchamps (2) 90-second routines Online Format Total sets needed: 7 sets total = *(3) 60 second and (4) 90 second *Qualifiers (if needed) - DJs perform a 60-second routine to qualify for a spot on the eliminations bracket. Eliminations - The Top 8 DJs will be selected and paired up. - Each DJ will go 2 rounds for 60 seconds each. - The Top 4 DJs will be selected and move onto the preliminary round Preliminaries (Online) - The Top 4 DJs will be paired up - Each DJ will perform (2) 90-second routine to determine the Top 2 finalists Finals (Online) - The Top 2 will go head-to-head - Each DJ will perform (2) 90-second routines to determine the online Champion - The Champion will advance to the World Finals Live Event Format Total sets needed: 7 sets total = *(5) 60 second and (2) 90 second *Qualifiers (if needed) - DJs perform a 60-second routine to qualify for a spot on the eliminations bracket. Equipment: - DJs can use up to two turntables and one DJ mixer. - Vinyl, DVS, or both are permitted. - DJs must supply headphones, slipmats, needles, records, laptops, power cords, USB cords, control vinyl, and laptop stands. - Controllers, CDJs, multimedia players, and production gear are prohibited. - Rane Twelve turntables/controllers and Phase wireless technology are permitted. - Video component is not allowed.     2024 General Rules for The DMC Open (Live and Online) The DMC Open, established in 2024, is DMC’s first open-format mixing DJ battle. In this competition, DJs will perform sets using any genre, techniques, and styles that can captivate the crowd and impress our guest panel of judges. It's a no-holds-barred situation that is meant to test your ability to select the right records! Show us your definition of being a true open-format DJ and be crowned the first DMC Open World Champion in DJ history. Equipment: - All DJ and production equipment is allowed: traditional turntables and mixers, controllers, tablets, groove boxes, sample players, and laptops. - DJs must supply headphones, slipmats, needles, records, laptops, power cords, USB cords, control vinyl, and laptop stands. Judging: Versatility of selection: Being able to cross multiple genres of music seamlessly Composition: music selection, programming Originality: What makes you stand out? Surprise us. Foundation: Cueing, loop, transitions, creative mixing, cleanliness Showmanship: How you use your personality to connect with the crowd. Overall impact: Did your set deliver a complete showcase of your ability to be the 1st/next DMC Open Champion? Judges roster: Our esteemed panel of judges will be made of DJs from different backgrounds of mixing, genre, and specialty techniques. Live Event Format: - DJs perform a 5-minute routine for the elimination round. - The top finalists selected by judges proceed to the final round. - In the final round, each finalist performs a 12-minute routine. - The champion advances to the next level (National or World Finals). World Finals: - Each finalist performs a 12-minute routine. - The judges will choose the champion, 2nd, and 3rd runner-up. Our Story

Established in 1985, DMC World is the world’s longest-running and most prestigious DJ competition on the planet. Period.  Since its launch, the Championships have created such turntable superstars as A-Trak, Cash Money, Craze, DJ Fly, DJ Kentaro, Mix Master Mike, Netik and Roc Raida with entrants arriving from over 75 countries.Winning the DMC World Title is the biggest accolade for any Turntablist, putting on the famous DMC World Champion Jacket is the biggest prize in DJing.
